CCBCC - History of the Club
The inaugural meeting of the Central Coast British Car Club was held on 16 July 1984.
The aims of the club are :
1. To preserve British vehicles and keep them on the road
2. To have a monthly meeting to discuss club business and generally talk cars
3. To have a monthly social gathering at a member's home generally known as “Noggin and Natter”
4. To have a monthly outing for members and their families to use their vehicles, generally known as a run
We were accepted for the then NSW CRS-H plate registration (for cars 30 years and older) in December 1984. The club is now a Roads and Maritime Services-recognised historic vehicle club. WARNING Members should be aware that if they become unfinancial with their primary club their CRS-H registration is invalid. This affects their insurance and ability to participate in club events. Also vehicles with CRS-H registration are neither licensed nor insured for any commercial activity or non-sanctioned club event.
Our membership is open to any make of British vehicle from inception to current models. We do not have associate members but do accept non-British vehicles on a 2 to 1 basis. Our club meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month in the Bellbird Room at Ourimbah RSL Club, Pacific Highway, Ourimbah at 7.30 p.m.
Our Noggin and Natters are generally held on the Friday or Saturday preceding each club meeting. Our monthly club runs are held on the Sunday following the meeting and we generally meet at Officeworks car park, West Gosford or Ourimbah RSL car park at 9.30 a.m. unless otherwise advised.
We look forward to having visitors and prospective members at any of these events. Since its inception the club has grown not only in size, but also in its goals which are stated above. Our club has developed into a part car and part social club with most of the members very active in club events which are many and varied. Our numbers have now been capped at 65 memberships with the aim of retaining a friendly atmosphere and predominantly active type of member. Particularly in the last 12 years we have taken the attitude that a club of this type should not only satisfy the members' car interests and social desires but contribute to the well-being of our community by being a part of many displays produced by other organizations wishing to raise funds for charity.
We have also on our own behalf undertaken many "Display Days" and other fund raising activities in the local area as well as the Sydney Metropolitan Area. The charities to benefit from these events have been Child Flight, Women's Breast Cancer Awareness, Children's Arthritis Foundation and the very successful Granny Kay's 100k's (A.A.R.F.).
We are unanimous and united in our ideas to continue this fund raising at the same time as continuing our enjoyment of our own very successful club.
